FAQ

FAQ's about Simi Permanent Cosmetics

What is simi permanent make-up?

When using a single needle tattoo gun its a process of implanting pigment into the dermis layer of the skin. When microblading, we use a blade on the epidermis layer of the skin to implant pigment.

Does it hurt?

80% of my clients say, No! I use top-of-the-line topical anesthetics and they work great! Lip procedures are typically considered most sensitive, but I developed a new 2-step numbing process that keeps even the most sensitive clients comfortable right from the start.

How long does the procedure take?

Procedures times vary depending on the service. Eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner typically take up to 1-3 hours. For first-time procedures, a follow-up appointment is recommended and should be scheduled by you as soon as you leave your first initial appointment.

How long does the healing process take?

It is completely normal to experience some tenderness and swelling immediately following the procedure and for a few days after. The pigment will appear darker and more vibrant than how it will actually look when it is healed.  Healing durations vary with each person but generally take between 5 to 14 days. Other than the slight sensitivity to the treated area, healing is normally painless.

How long does it last?

Although simi permanent makeup can last 12 months (for those that do their 4-6 week touch up) months allowing you to focus on more important matters, the exact length of time varies depending on skin type, lifestyle and exposure to the sun. To maximize the duration, please follow the after treatment care provided above and try and always cover treated area when in the sun. A yearly color maintence boost is highly recommended to keep your brows looking fresh.

What color should I choose?

There is a right color for everyone! I take into consideration your natural skin color, hair color and eye color. A soft natural shade is always preferred.

Will I have to take time off of work?

No! After the procedure, you will have minimal-to-moderate swelling and redness that in most cases dissipates quickly. Freshly done procedures are darker initially and then fade within the first week. There is really no downtime. Most clients are happy from the time they first look into the mirror.

What about sterilization?

Only single-use, sterile needles/blades are used and will be freshly opened in front of you. All other equipment is either discarded after use or sterilized. All guidelines are strictly followed in accordance with the Center of Disease Control.

Can I have permanent make-up done if I'm on medication?

Yes, unless you hare taking steroids or blood thinning medications.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo service at Renée De La Tour.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

How will I look immediately after?

Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first week, this will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Redness and swelling is most often minimal.

I have previous eyebrows tattooed by someone else, can I still get them done?

If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed, we are no longer offering cover-up or re-work services. We cannot guarantee results for cases such as these. In some instances where the previous work is too dark, dense or discoloured. We offer tattoo removal, this will be highly recommended before our services will be considered. Previously tattooed areas will almost always require additional sessions and will be charged accordingly. Some special cases may be considered. Please contact us with any further questions.

Will cosmetic Tattooing/ Microblading work well for me?

If you have extremely oily skin, the hairstroke eyebrow technique will NOT work well for you. The constant production of oil will cause the hairstrokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will look more powdered than you would expect.

If you have little to no existing hair, your tattoo will appear more 2-dimensional than those clients who have more hair naturally.

If you are a frequent smoker or alcohol drinker, your pigment may fade sooner.

If you are iron deficient or anemic, your pigment may fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

What should I know about long term care?

A good sunscreen should be applied daily AFTER healing and is required to help keep colour true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the colour soften faster.

Fading speed depends on your skintype, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment colour used, broken capillaries, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure.

If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedure, please inform the technician.

What to do After your procedure.

To ensure that you have long lasting results, please follow the aftercare procedures outlined below.

Absolutely no cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on treated area for 2 weeks.

Follow your after care instructions that were given to you.

Keep the area clean and sterile.

Don’t scratch, rub or pick at the area, let it heal on its own. Scabbing or dry skin are normal and a part of the process so let it heal naturally. If you pull the scabs off you are increasing your chances of scarring and ink completely disappearing from that area.

Avoid sleeping on your face for as long as possible but specifically for at least 14 days.

Do not get any other treatments on or near the area such as botox, facials, chemical peels or microdermabrasion for 30 days.

Avoid the sun for at least a month and if you can’t help it, always cover the treated area.

Avoid heavy sweating for at least two weeks, so that means NO working out.

A switch all facial products to oil free. Oils in makeup and skincare products can make your pigments fade faster.

DO NOT PUT ANY MAKEUP ON YOUR BROW WHILE HEALING!!!! THIS WILL JEOPARDIZE THE INTEGRITY OF THE OVERALL FINAL APPEARANCE OF YOUR HAIRSTROKE RESULTS, INCLUDING COLOR.

ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO IMMEDIATELY BOOK YOUR FOLLOW UP TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT TO ENSURE THAT YOU GET THE DATE AND TIME THAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU AND SO ITS ALSO FALLS WITHIN THE 4-6 TIME FRAME THATS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE IT FOR $200 WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL FEES. Maintenance

As a general rule, the patient should expect to book a maintenance appointment every 6-12 months. With that said, some factors will effect fading more quickly for some verses others. These factors include, but are not limited to the following:

Not taking proper care of procedure area after treatment.

Sunbathing or using sun beds.

Using Retin A creams, or any other products that contain AHA’s, Glycolic or Vitamin A.

Certain skin treatments such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

Certain skin conditions and or excessively dry/oily skin types.

Specific medications which are known to cause increased fading.

Excessive use of alcohol.

Swimming in chlorinated pools

Applying makeup on your eyebrows.

Smoking.

Disclaimer

Permanent Make Up is a form of cosmetic tattooing where pigment is placed in the dermal layer of the tissue.  Retention of the pigment is out of our control, as it is determined by the patient’s skin type, how well they follow after-care procedures, as well as their immune system, therefore no specific result can be 100% guaranteed.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU THOROUGHLY RESEARCH THE PROCEDURE BEFORE SCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT, TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE.  MANY TIMES, DEPENDING ON YOUR SKIN TYPE, YOU MAY NOT BE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THE RESPECTIVE PROCEDURE SO PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE.  YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO EMAIL OR CALL US BEFORE BOOKING ANY PROCEDURE AND ASK OUR FRIENDLY STAFF IF IT IS A GOOD DECISION FOR YOU AND IF YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE.

IT ALSO VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYONE’S SKIN IS DIFFERENT SO THE RESULTS VARY FROM ONE PERSON TO THE NEXT.  THIS MEANS THAT THE TATTOO MAY FADE AND WITH SOME PEOPLE COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A RISK YOU ARE TAKING. PERMANENT MAKEUP IS AN ART AND NOT A SCIENCE SO IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT ALTHOUGH 95% OF CLIENTS HAVE A SUCCESSFUL PROCEDURE, SOME DON’T.  SOME PEOPLE’S SKIN DOES NOT TAKE THE TATTOO SO IT FADES PARTIALLY AND OR FULLY AND THAT IS A MAJOR RISK YOU ARE TAKING.
